How to paint basic backgrounds. This
workshop will include wet into wet background techniques and
basic airbrush techniques as well as many other hints and
tips to help you with backgrounds for your work.
Materials required: Plenty of
watercolour paper, watercolours, acrylic inks if you
have them. If you own an airbrush please bring it along.
19th June 2010 - Wildlife in Graphite with Clive Meredith (FULL - please enquire to be put on waiting list)
A wildlife based workshop with tips and techniques for using pencil with proifessional artist, Clive Meredith. Improve your pencil skills, pick up tips and learn new techiques to bring your drawings to life.
Materials required: Quality
paper, ideally hot pressed watercolour paper which has been
stretched, a good range of pencils, ideally H grade through to 3B or 5B, putty
rubber and any other equipment you may normally use with pencil work, an
outline of an image to work on, or a part completed image plus good
quality reference material.
26th June 2010 - Black Fur
A
workshop dedicated to painting animals with black fur.
Materials
required: Selection of photographs of animals with black fur.
Watercolours, acrylic inks (essential), watercolour paper, brushes,
including a 00 brush.
3rd July 2010 - Celerity portrait in pastel with Julie Longdon
How to paint a portrait of a well known celebrity, capturing the likeness and wonderful luminosity to the skin whilst discovering how to render realistic features.
Materials required: To be confirmed.
10th July 2010 - Felt with Shimmer and Shine with Karen Head (£35)
Karen uses silk fibres, man-made and natural threads and yarns and anything which sparkles in her own felt art. Felt is traditionally matt, but Karen uses all sorts in order to make a felt whiuch is both textural and has shimmer and shine. Learn to make a piece which is about 30cmx40cm (12"x16") which will teach you how to ensure that the sparkly threads felt to the fabric and don't fall off
Materials required: All materials provided. Please bring own scissors and an old towel.
17th July 2010 - Animal workshop in acrylic inks

workshop dedicated to painting animals in acrylic inks
Materials
required: Selection of F and W acrylic ink (colours to include:
Burnt Umber, Paynes Grey, White, Black, Yellow Ochre, Olive Green,
Indigo, Red Earth, Flame Red). 2 sheets of Langton watercolour board,
watercolour paper and brushes including a 00, 3 and 6.
11th September 2010 - How to correct mistakes in watercolour
A
variety of different tips and techniques to help you save a
watercolour!
Materials
required: Watercolour paints, watercolour paper, and brushes. If
you have any paintings you require help with, bring them along. We
will see if we can fix them!
2nd October 2010 - Tawny owl in acrylic inks
How
to paint a Tawny Owl using acrylic inks.
Materials
required: Acrylic inks (colours to include White, Black, Paynes
Grey, Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre). Langton watercolour board,
watercolour brushes, including a 00. A photograph will be provided.
9th October 2010 - Make a felt flower with Karen Head (£18 - 10am to 1pm)
Felt flowers, enriched with silk fibres, make beautiful brooches or embelishments for hats and handbags. You will learn how to make a piece of felt which is cut, shaped and shrunk into a flower! Also make a felt bead to decorate the centre. Felt is fun and you do not need any experience in felting to enjoy this workshop.
Materials required: All materials provided.
Please bring own scissors and an old towel.
13th November 2010 - Robins, Holly and Christmas Cheer
A
workshop to help you design a Christmas painting. You may even decide
to have it printed as your official Christmas card! This should get
us all into the mood for the festivities to come. Mince pies
supplied!
Materials
required: A selection of robin, holly and general Christmas
cuttings to share. Whatever medium you prefer to work in and the
materials needed for this. Tracing paper or tracedown paper.
27th November 2010 - Big Cat in pastel with Julie Longdon
How to paint a big cat portrait on velour paper. Discover how to paint beautiful realistic eyes and how to render different types of fur that you feel you could run your fingers through!
Materials required: To be confirmed.
11th December 2010 - General painting workshop
Come
along and relax before the real Christmas rush begins. Bring a
project of your own choice. Help and encouragement will be supplied
complete with mince pies!
Demonstrations
will be carried out throughout the day on a wide variety of subjects.
